After surviving record temps and snowfall accumulations this winter, we are finally moving toward spring "green-up". And none too soon, according to most people in our area.
However, along with the grasses greening up comes the emergence of weeds. The application of a good pre-emergent herbicide in the spring is very important. The pre-emergent application successfully controls grassy weeds in your lawn and shrub beds. Even if a lawn looks weed free, failure to apply a pre-emergent chemical now will allow weeds to become established and will soon destroy the look and health of your lawn.
Weeds that have remained throughout the winter are usually some type of broadleaf that can be easily treated with a post-emergent. For fast and effective control to troublesome weeds in the lawn, Weed Free Zone, which contains 2,4-D, has superior cool weather performance. ("Pre" emerge = before you actually see it; "Post" emerge = for what is already up and showing in the lawn.) Many pre-emergent and post-emergent products can be applied at the same time.
For the people who want to do it themselves, one of our sales associates will be glad to answer any questions you may have. And for those who would like a professional application, give Sartin Services Lawncare & Nursery a call today at 870.935.0357 for assistance. Either way, we can achieve great results at reasonable rates.
Happy Gardening!
