Band at First Lutheran School
Beginning Band Rocks! We had our first performance at the Christmas Concert, and are busily preparing for Solo and Ensemble Festival this spring in Dardanelle, Arkansas. Each student will prepare and perform a solo on their instrument with piano accompaniment. Mrs. Norma Cholcher plays the accompaniments for ALL of the solos and ensembles. Thank You, Mrs. Cholcher!
Fifth & Sixth Grade attend "Earquake"
February 9, 2009 the Fort Smith Symphony presented "Earquake" for area elementary students. The fast-paced concert had video cameras filming the orchestra while they were playing. With multiple screens, students were able to get a close-up look at instruments in action. One piece entitled "Vox Humana", used the human voice with the orchestra in an unusual fashion. Light sitcks were used to add a visual element to the music. Pictured below are 5th and 6th graders as they exited the Arkansas Best Performing Arts Center. The bracelets they are holding were given to them by the Symphony. They say "Ft. Smith Symphony Rocks!" What a fun time we had!
