Greene County Tech School District extended their staff seven years ago to add a full time Social Worker.  A school Social Worker wears many hats, but the most important is to assist students and families with many different programs.  These programs are designed to boost self esteem which will provide students with self confidence to overcome barriers for success in school. 

One program that the primary offers is the food backpack program which provides snack foods for children who may not have enough to eat after school and on weekends.   The school supply program assists families who may not be able to buy school supplies for their children and for new children to the district who have no supplies.  The Social Worker and Parent Center Coordinator work together on many different projects to ensure that all children’s needs are met.  There are many other programs designed to help students and families.
