Research shows that teachers’ ability to transfer skills and knowledge gained from professional development increases significantly when coaching is added to the teachers’ training.  Therefore at Greene County Tech Primary, we have added Literacy Coaches to our teaching staff.  Our Literacy Coaches have been trained through the Arkansas Reading First Model.  This model insures that all reading instruction is based on scientific reading research.    Literacy coaches support classroom teachers as they implement a Scientifically Based Reading Curriculum.  Coaches model lessons, oversee assessments, provide on-site professional development and assist teachers in planning appropriate lessons.
