Greene County Tech Primary School’s current math coaching program evolved from a previous program call Math Recovery.  Math Recovery helped students, one-on-one, who were having difficulty with math.  Two math instructors were able to reach about 35 students each year.  The district saw a need to support all students in the building instead of a select few.  In the school year 2005-2006, the school district implemented the state model of Math Coaching.  With this state program, Math Coaches are able to improve all students’ learning in our building by:

 

  • Offering support to teachers to help improve their understanding and teaching of mathematics.

 

  • Assisting teachers in the classroom with classroom management

 

  • Assisting teachers with instructional strategies

 

  • Assisting teachers with time management

 

  • Addressing any concerns the teacher might have about student learning
