GCT JR. HIGH STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS AND ACTIVITIES
Organizations and activities to GCT Junior High students are many and varied. All students are urged to take advantage of opportunities to participate in student government, clubs, dramatics, music, and other activities under the sponsorship of the student body. Participation in these activities offers experience which assists in the development of good character, leadership and other desirable social qualities.
Club Meetings are held the
third Wednesday of each month.
LIBRARY CLUB
OFFICERS: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Reporter, Treasurer
MEMBERSHIP: Members may be eighth or ninth grade.
PURPOSE: The purpose of the club is to help create an interest in reading
SAFETY COUNCIL
OFFICERS: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter
MEMBERSHIP: Students may be from the eighth or ninth grade and must have a "C" average.
PURPOSE: To assist in all fire drills and to promote safety.
EAGLE BAND
The Greene County Tech Junior High Band is comprised of students interested in learning to play a musical instrument. It is divided into separate performing units. The bands perform at various activities during the school year such as football games, assemblies, Christmas programs and spring concerts.
ATHLETICS
"Athletics" applies to any game or sport where physical exertion is displayed. it is a major objective of Tech Junior High to provide, as far as is practical and possible, athletics for its students. It is also the duty of each student to take some part in our athletic programs for his/her personal development, for the glory of the sports, and for Tech Junior High School.
SPIRIT CLUB
OFFICERS: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer
MEMBERSHIP: Members may be eighth or ninth grade.
PURPOSE: To provide students with an organization that promotes general school spirit and sportsmanship during ACADEMICS and EXTRACURRICULAR activities.
STUDENT COUNCIL
OFFICERS: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer
MEMBERSHIP: Officers must have a "C" average in all classes and meet before an advisory board and/or submit specific credentials to the committee. They are then elected by students in grades 8 and 9, by popular vote. Representatives are also elected by popular vote. Representatives are also elected by popular vote. Students sign up one week before election is held.
PURPOSE: To promote a more loyal school morale; establish fair play; insure equal rights in the organization, supervision, and the promotion of school activities for all students; and develop leadership.
SCIENCE CLUB
OFFICERS: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer
MEMBERSHIP: Any student in the eighth or ninth grade who is currently enrolled in a science course may become a member of the Junior High Science Club.
PURPOSE: To increase our knowledge of science, to perfect our skills in science, and to foster understanding of research in science. To stimulate an interest in research and direct young students in pursuit of research projects.
STUDENT CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION
Meetings are held weekly before school hours at 7:40 a.m. on Wednesdays.
OFFICERS: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer
MEMBERSHIP: Students may be from the eighth or ninth grade.
PURPOSE: To meet together in a cooperative and Christian atmosphere; to develop confidence and leadership ability, to share Christian ideas, and enjoy the challenge and adventure in the fellowship of Christian students.
HEALTH CLUB
OFFICERS: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer
MEMBERSHIP: Ninth grade students who participate in at least one function of the club before March and have paid their dues by the second meeting of the year.
PURPOSE: For each member to become more aware of the type of lifestyle that is necessary for a healthy and happy life.
COMPUTER CLUB
OFFICERS: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer
MEMBERSHIP: Students may be from the eighth or ninth grade and must have a "C" average.
PURPOSE: To raise interest in computers.
MUSIC/DRAMA CLUB
OFFICERS: President, Vice-President, Secretary,Treasurer
MEMBERSHIP: Students may be from the eighth or ninth grade.
PURPOSE: To cultivate interest and develop skills and knowledge relating to all aspects of drama including acting, directing, and stage construction. Students will be introduced to a variety of cultures in the field of singing.
NURSE'S CLUB
OFFICERS: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer
MEMBERSHIP: Students may be from the eighth or ninth grade.
PURPOSE: To develop the knowledge of degrees in the nursing profession and promote more interest in the medical field.
SAFE DRIVING CLUB
OFFICERS: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer
MEMBERSHIP: Students may be from the eighth or ninth grade.
PURPOSE: To promote safe driving skills, driving etiquette and prepare students to obtain driving permits.
JUNIOR FBLA CLUB
OFFICERS: President, Vice-President, Secretary,Treasurer
MEMBERSHIP: Membership is limited to 20-25 based on teacher recommendation and courses taken in the curriculum.
PURPOSE: To introduce students to a variety of business type settings in which students may gain opportunities to participate in real life situations. This club will be similar to the FBLA club that students may join upon entering high school.
METEOROLOGY CLUB
OFFICERS: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer
MEMBERSHIP: Students may be from the eighth or ninth grade.
PURPOSE: To help create an interest in meteorology.
FCCLA CLUB
OFFICERS: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer
MEMBERSHIP: Students may be from the eighth or ninth grade and must be enrolled or have been enrolled in a FACS class for at least a semester.
PURPOSE: To promote personal growth and leadership development with an emphasis on community service projects.
