Western Kentucky Presbytery

First Presbyterian Church, Owensboro, Kentucky, is one of 38 member-churches of the Western Kentucky Presbytery.

A "presbytery" is a local gathering of Presbyterian congregations consisting of the pastors and a delegated elder(s) commissioner sent to one of four meetings of presbytery per year to represent each of those congregations, thereby, in turn, representing all the congregations in the presbytery. Presbyterian churches are "connectional" in that whatever happens at one level (i.e., congregation, presbytery, synod, or General Assembly) happens throughout the entire denomination. Presbyteries share in the life of the church by assisting congregations in the development and implementation of each congregation's ministry and mission within each's local context and beyond.

Our presbytery is led in part by the Rev. Dr. Rich Cooper, Executive Presbyter. Other presbytery staff include Shirley Pilleri and Lisa Troutman.
