Fellowship

Our common story - our common Scripture - speaks of God's willingness to befriend us even after we have sought to break away from God.

Jesus said, "I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father." - John 15:15

Through Christ and in Christ, we are mysteriously and wonderfully associated with God - counted no longer as enemies, but as friends.

Scripture also speaks about another type of fellowship.  The Unity of the Spirit includes unity among fellow believers - amongst brothers and sisters:

"All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need.  Day by day, they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people." - Acts 2:44-47a

We believe such fellowship to be more than idealism; we believe it to be a gift.  We - as a congregation - desire to create and nurture such community - to enhance our fellowship.

As a community of believers, we are devoted to breaking bread together, to share both our talents and our needs, and to acknowledge we are God's people.  For, we are mindful and confident that the Psalmist was correct:  "How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!" (Psalm 133:1)
